Ivy League Students Attend Opera - January 2013

Trip to the Met

Ivy Leaguers in grades 3,4 and 8 headed for Manhattan on December 14th to attend a performance of the comic opera, Barber of Seville at the world famous Metropolitan Opera House. Students were prepared for this moving experience by becoming familiar with the libretto and story line and through listening to the stunning music of composer Gioachino Rossini. Students were treated to a special audience with Jordan Bisch who played Don Basciio the opera’s magnanimous hero . The day was topped off with an impromptu visit to Rockefeller Center to view the 80 ft. Norway Spruce. The children were mesmerized by the 45,000 multicolored lights that adorned the tree. Ivy League School is looking forward to joining the Opera Guild and to introducing many more fascinating performances to our students"
